Scope of our services and sources of information on our site
The purpose of our site is to give you information about care services available to you. There are three categories of care operators: care homes, domiciliary care and extra care. Extra care covers a range of services from accommodation with a concierge, to sheltered accommodation with or without additional facilities such as recreational rooms and/or staff providing various services.
Care homes and domiciliary care services are independently regulated and assessed by official bodies: the Care and Quality Commission (CQC) for England, the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW) and Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland (SCSWIS). Extra care is not independently regulated or assessed (except in Scotland), although may adhere to relevant codes of conduct.
The information on care operators is obtained from publicly available reports from the independent regulators – CQC, CSSIW and SCSWIS. Any descriptions of care services and any photographs or images of care facilities have been provided by the care operators themselves. We do not edit what has been submitted to us by care operators save if necessary to fit photographs or images to our standard photograph or image size or text to our maximum word count. Where we note that there is, or may be, an obvious error we may correct this to the best of our knowledge within our absolute discretion. Where reasonably possible we will refer back to the care operator which submitted the item.
Where we refer regulators to reports or assessments about care operators we are referring to the independent reports from the independent regulators – CQC, CSSIW and SCSWIS.
We also carry out our own inspections or assessments if separately commissioned on a private basis. Where the commissioning provider has agreed we disoplay that assessment under the heading My Care My Home Rating.
Where we provide a facility on our site for any comments or reviews of care operators or facilities this is intended for use by users or prospective users of those operators or facilities, their family and friends or other interested parties to provide objective statements which may be of assistance to others. Such posts are to be in accordance with our acceptable use policy.
When you purchase a Premium Listing you consent to My Care My Home removing the listing from it’s website if the registration is cancelled by the regulator. If this occurs no refund will be given.
You consent to the publication of and agree to My Care My Home publishing feeback and assessments and reviews, which may be critical or defamatory of you, even though My Care My Home may be aware tghat such feedback or assessments or reviews caused or contrbuted to the publication of a statement is is defamatory to you.
We do not undertake to identify or correct errors in what is submitted to us whether by care operators or in relation to interactive services nor are we obliged to do so.
We offer one home visit (or a meeting at another venue selected by the user) free of charge which can be requested via the freephone number given on our site to discuss the requirements of a potential user of care services or facilities. Any services or products which may be required by the user as a result of or following on from such visit or meeting will be the subject of a separate purchase contract whether with us or with the relevant provider or operator.
